FK-KMK UGM Lecturer Participates in WADEM Congress 2025

Lectures from FK-KMK UGM participated in the 23rd World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, from 2-6, 2025. With the theme “Governance in the Face of VUCA: The Power of Knowledge, Courage, and Solidarity in Health Systems”. This congress aims to provide a variety of global perspectives in the discourse of disaster and emergency medicine. This congress was also attended by researchers and clinicians around the world who have specialized in the field of disaster and emergency medicine.

In attending the 23rd World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) Congress, Prof. dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, M.Sc., Ph.D., FRSPH (FK-KMK UGM) joined the ASEAN Institute for Disaster Health Management (AIDHM) Team. This team is an ASEAN Institution that focuses on disaster health management. Besides, the joining of FK-KMK UGM Lectures is expected to be able to provide regional coordination support in providing an ASEAN perspective on the running of the congress.

The congress was also attended by researchers and lecturers of the Center for Health Policy and Management (PKMK) FK-KMK UGM. This researcher and lecturers from the Center are expected to be able to contribute academic thoughts related to sharing research and lessons with learners about their experiences in disaster management, pre-hospital care, and other aspects of health that are emergency and complex humanitarian crises. 

At this congress, Prof. Dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, M.Sc., Ph.D., FRSPH as Dean of FK-KMK UGM as well as a representative of the ASEAN Institute for Disaster Health Management Team, launched the ASEAN Journal of Disaster Health Management. Prof. Yodi emphasized that the launch of this journal aims to provide convenience and a forum for sharing research results and scientific knowledge related to disaster health management.

Furthermore, Prof. Yodi was also a guest speaker at a panel discussion session and led a meeting between the ASEAN Institute for Disaster Health Management Team and the President of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine. This series of activities is in line with the partnership of the goals 3: Healthy and Prosperous Life and goals 4: Quality Education because there is a commitment from FK-KMK UGM in providing a forum for the dissemination of research and research updates.
