UGM Pediatric Surgery Residents Win Awards at 31st PERBANI Annual Meeting

FK-KMK UGM.  The Pediatric Surgery Residency team from Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK UGM) achieved impressive recognition at the 31st Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Pediatric Surgery Association (PERBANI), held at Hotel Mason Pine in Bandung from October 24-26, 2024.

This year’s PERBANI Annual Meeting, themed “Pediatric Surgery for the Nation,” attracted hundreds of pediatric surgery specialists and residents from across Indonesia. The event provided a platform to strengthen collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the field, aimed at improving pediatric surgery services nationwide. The meeting coincided with National Pediatric Surgery Month and offered three days of scientific sessions, workshops, and discussions centered on the latest innovations and experiences in pediatric surgery.

The event also featured activities like a fun run, a fun bike ride, and networking sessions, fostering opportunities for young professionals to expand their professional networks.

During the scientific competition, UGM’s residency team earned two prestigious awards. Dr. Eko Purnomo, Ph.D., SpBA, Subs.D.A(K), won first place in the PERBANI Prize category, while Dr. Nova Yuli Prasetyo Budi, Ph.D., took first place in the Oral Presentation Podium category. Both awardees represented FK-KMK UGM’s Pediatric Surgery Division in the Department of Surgery.

This achievement not only reflects the high-quality education and research at UGM but also underscores the institution’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Reduced Inequality (SDG 10), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). Through these achievements, UGM hopes to inspire other health professionals to continue enhancing pediatric surgery services across Indonesia. (Isroq Adi Subakti/Reporter).
