FK-KMK UGM Explores Education and Student Exchange Collaboration with Malaysia’s MSU

FK-KMK UGM. As the host, FK-KMK UGM welcomed a delegation from Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia, during a Courtesy Visit and Discussion on Wednesday (21/10/2026). Held in person at the Executive Room, 2nd Floor of the KPTU Building, FK-KMK UGM, the meeting served as an introduction and a first step toward building a closer institutional relationship between the two institutions.

The MSU delegation consisted of Mr. Mohd. Hairulnizam Ibrahim and Mr. Ghaffar Rafli Rozani. They were received directly by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FK-KMK UGM, dr. Ahmad Hamim Sadewa, Ph.D. This face-to-face meeting gave both sides a chance to engage in direct dialogue. The delegation’s visit carried one main purpose, which was to explore opportunities for cooperation so that each side could better understand the other’s direction of development.

The event began with an opening, followed by an introduction and presentation from FK-KMK UGM. As a faculty that brings together three fields of study, namely medicine, public health, and nursing, FK-KMK UGM gave the guests a general overview of the faculty. This presentation provided a foundation so that the discussion that followed could proceed in a focused way and respond to the needs of both parties.

From the presentation, the atmosphere shifted to a discussion session with MSU. In this session, the two institutions shared information on potential areas of cooperation that could be developed in the future. The conversation focused mainly on education and student exchange, alongside other forms of academic collaboration. Student exchange emerged as one opportunity that would allow students from both institutions to gain academic experience across borders. The discussion also gave both sides room to identify the areas most relevant to their respective strengths, so that any form of cooperation formulated later can be sustained over time.

The meeting reflects FK-KMK UGM’s continuing efforts to expand its international network, including with institutions in Southeast Asia. The geographic and cultural closeness between Indonesia and Malaysia can serve as a valuable foundation for building complementary partnerships in the delivery of education. Exploratory talks of this kind are an important stage before a partnership is formalized, because they allow both sides to align expectations from the start.

After the discussion, the event concluded with a group photo session as a symbol of togetherness and the beginning of a warm relationship. Although still at the exploratory stage, the meeting is expected to become a foundation for concrete follow-up cooperation that brings real benefits to the academic communities of both institutions.

This cross-border collaborative step is in line with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, which promotes inclusive and high-quality learning opportunities, and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthened cooperation between institutions. In this way, cross-border educational collaboration is expected to help raise the quality of health education. (Reporter: Balanca Qolta).
