Dean's Welcome

MESSAGE FROM DEAN'S

Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.

Welcome to the website of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM.

We are pleased and honored to invite all readers to explore the program and the campus environment of FK-KMK UGM through this web page. Hopefully this page can be a source of various academic information and faculty dynamics that are useful for readers.

FK-KMK UGM is known as the oldest Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia. The change of the Jakarta Medical College (PTK) to Klaten as the center for the pre-clinical section and Surakarta as the clinic section in 1946 marked a milestone in the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine UGM, which since 2017 has been named the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM.

Since its inception, the faculty has adhered to the values of Pancasila, Struggle, Nationalism, Democracy, and Culture which have become the lifeblood of the institution in realizing the implementation of the Tri Dharma of higher education. The spirit of kindship, mutual cooperation, unyielding, teamwork, local wisdom, humanity, and democracy have become the main values for the faculty development process.

Based on the development of scientific disciplines, currently the faculty has 32 departments, 3 undergraduate study programs, 7 masters study programs, 20 specialist medical education programs and 1 doctoral program. The internationalization of educational institutions is our passion in managing the faculty. Student exchange programs, Medical International Undergraduate Program (IUP), guest lectures, international accreditation, improving the quality of infrastructure, continuous curriculum improvements, and expanding international collaboration partners into faculty programs to support a conducive and global-standard student learning atmosphere. Department profiles, infrastructure, research, publications, collaborations, and student rooms are the various menus that we have presented through this web page.

The faculty also has a flagship program, Community and Family Health Care Interprofessional Education (CFHC-IPE). This program is part of the faculty’s efforts to develop a comprehensive vehicle for student debriefing and learning about public health issues. In addition, CFHC-IPE is a place to build cross-professional team collaboration which is a provision for students in providing future health services. The educational program developed in the faculty’s learning process is also in line with the spirit of Merdeka Learning, Merdeka Campus to provide open space for learning for all students.

Finally, the faculty will continue to strive to provide quality and up-to-date information in managing the web page: https://fkkmk.ugm.ac.id. Therefore, we also open a room for criticism, input, and suggestions from readers to take care of the development of this information media page. Thanks and happy reading.
