FK-KMK UGM. Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM received a visit from Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) on Wednesday (10/5). There were several activities carried out during this visit, such as discussions related to research, guest lectures, and discussions related to cooperation between institutions.
Discussions related to research were carried out between Prof. Pancras Hogendoorn from LUMC with Prof. Dr. dr. Irianiwati Widodo, Sp.PA(K) and dr. Ery Kus Dwianingsih, Ph.D., Sp.PA(K) from the Department of Anatomical Pathology FK-KMK.
Furthermore, Prof. Pancras Hogendoorn gave a presentation in a Guest Lecture about “The Pathological: Differential Diagnosis of Giant Cell Containing Tumors of Bone”. In his presentation, Prof. Pancras gave explanations about cases of giant cell tumor surgery (a type of bone tumor). “Because the case is very rare, doctors must be more thorough in their diagnosis,” added Prof. Pancras Hogendoorn.
Common symptoms of bone tumors are pain, swelling, and fragility of the bones. If a person feels any of these symptoms, it is best to see a doctor immediately.
Discussions regarding future collaboration are the last item on the agenda during LUMC’s visit to FK-KMK. The collaboration is related to research and student exchange.
