University of Michigan visit to FK-KMK

FK-KMK UGM. Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM received a visit from University of Michigan on Wednesday (10/5) at Tahir Foundation Postgraduate Building. There are several agendas that will be carried out during this visit, such as discussions related to collaboration and guest lectures from University of Michigan’s researchers.

Dean of FK-KMK, dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, M.Sc., Ph.D., FRSPH warmly welcomed the arrival of the University of Michigan delegation. “Thank you very much for visiting, I hope University of Michigan delegations can quickly get used to the long time difference,” said dr. Yodi.

dr. Yodi explained several study programs and departments in FK-KMK. “FK-KMK is very open if there is an opportunity for collaboration,” he added.

Director of the Health Behavior and Promotion Center, dr. Bagas Suryo Bintoro, Ph.D said that he did not expect to be able to collaborate with the University of Michigan. On this occasion, dr. Bagas also gave an explanation of the activities and programs carried out by the Center for Health Behavior and Promotion.

Dr. Retna Siwi Padmawati, MA from the Center for Health Behavior and Promotion was present to lead a discussion regarding the collaboration between FK-KMK and University of Michigan. Retna Siwi said that possible collaborations include student exchanges, exchange of information and knowledge, training and capacity building, and joint research.

On Thursday (11/5), a guest lecture entitled “Academia’s Role in Tackling Climate Change” will be held, delivered by researchers from the University of Michigan, namely Abram L. Wagner, PhD, MPH; Richard Netizel, PhD, MS, CIH, FAIHA; and Matthew L. Boulton, MD, MPH, FACPM. (Reporter: Nirwana)
