Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Gadjah Mada University (FK-KMK UGM) participated in the successful 2nd APIC-ADVA Summit on Infectious Diseases and Immunization international conference held at the Orchard Hotel, Singapore, on February 10-13, 2025. On this occasion, Prof. dr. Jarir At Thobari, D.Pharm., Ph.D., represented the Center for Child Health Studies (PKKA-PRO) FK-KMK UGM to participate in scientific discussions on infectious diseases and immunization. This activity was supported by PT. Takeda Innovative Medicines and the Department of Pharmacology and Therapy FK-KMK UGM.
As part of efforts to enhance human resource capacity in the health sector, PT. Takeda provided full support in the form of accommodation for Prof. dr. Jarir At Thobari, D.Pharm., Ph.D., to strengthen the contribution of Indonesian academics in research and policy related to immunization. This aligns with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, which focuses on improving access to quality healthcare services and strategies for controlling infectious diseases.
In conjunction with the conference in Singapore, PT. Takeda also initiated a meeting on vaccines and diagnostic tools, which will be held on February 19, 2025, at the UGM Central Building. This meeting involves the UGM Cooperation Directorate, Addimune, Enimune, and representatives from FK-KMK UGM, intending to strengthen research and innovation in the field of vaccines and diagnostic tools. This initiative supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening cooperation between academics, the pharmaceutical industry, and the government in efforts to improve public health.
The participation of FK-KMK UGM in this international forum also supports SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing access to the latest knowledge and technology for academics and health workers. In addition, the development of vaccine and diagnostic tool research is expected to encourage the achievement of SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, in order to increase the competitiveness of the Indonesian health industry at the global level.
With the ongoing 2nd APIC-ADVA Summit, it is hoped that there will be more opportunities for collaboration that can support the development of immunization strategies and infectious disease control in Indonesia and around the world. FK-KMK UGM is committed to continuing to play an active role in research and innovation that contributes to public health in general.
