FK-KMK UGM. The Center for Health Behavior and Promotion, in collaboration with the Department of Health Behavior, Environment, and Social Medicine, as well as the Doctoral Program in Medical and Health Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FK-KMK UGM), organized a guest lecture titled “Mental Health among Children: Issues and Potential Interventions”. This seminar was held in a hybrid format on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the Pascasarjana Tahir Foundation building, 2nd floor, FK-KMK UGM.
The guest lecture featured Masoud Vaezghasemi, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., a researcher in Global Health, Food Science & Industry, Nutrition, and Epidemiology from Umeå University, Sweden. Masoud Vaezghasemi discussed current issues related to children’s mental health and potential interventions to address these problems. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Fatwa Sari Tetra Dewi, M.P.H., Ph.D., from the Department of Health Behavior, Environment, and Social Medicine, FK-KMK UGM.
Masoud Vaezghasemi highlighted awareness of the importance of mental health in children. Mental health issues in children are crucial as they can affect their development and quality of life in the future. This seminar was expected to provide new insights and effective strategies for managing and preventing mental health issues in children.
Additionally, this activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically goal number 3, “Good Health and Well-being,” and goal number 4, “Quality Education.” By focusing on children’s mental health, this seminar contributes to creating an environment that supports the healthy and prosperous development of children, ensuring they receive quality education without the barriers posed by mental health issues.
The benefits of this guest lecture include providing participants with a deeper understanding of children’s mental health issues and how various interventions can be applied to address these problems. The discussions and presentations by the speakers are expected to serve as references for academics, practitioners, and policymakers in formulating policies and programs that support children’s mental health. Through this event, it is hoped that more research and educational development programs and community service will focus on the prevention and intervention of children’s mental health issues.
