In a series of International Scientific Meetings on Cosmetic Dermatology (ISCoD) 2025, dr. Nurbaiti, a resident from the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) Dermatology, venereology, and Aesthetics (DVE) Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM, appeared as a presenter in a scientific presentation session held at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel, Saturday (3/5). This symposium was organized by the Indonesia Society of Dermatologists (PERDOKSI) through the Indonesian Cosmetic Dermatology Study Group (KSDKI) and attended by dermatology practitioners and academics from home and abroad.
In the oral presentation session, dr. Nurbaiti presented the results of her research entitled “Cosmetic-induced allergic contact dermatitis: A Retrospective study of patch test findings in a tertiary hospital”. This study is a retropective descriptive study conducted at Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, Yogyakarta, to evaluate the prevalence of allergic contact dermatitis (DKA) due to cosmetics, patch test results, and identifying cosmetic allergens that most often trigger allergic reactions.
The results showed that skincare products are one of the main triggers of cosmetic DKA in patients. This finding emphasizes the urgency of public education on the importance of reading ingredient labels, understanding skin type, and consulting with medical personnel before using cosmetic products regularly. Public awareness of the safety of cosmetic ingredients is the first step in preventing skin diseases caused by allergic reactions.
Nurbaiti’s participation in this scientific forum is clear evidence of the active role of FK-KMK UGM residents in voicing the results of clinical service-based research that has a direct impact on public health, as well as supporting SDG 3: Healthy and Prosperous Life with efforts to prevent skin diseases, as well as SDG 4: Quality Education through the dissemination of evidence-based science to the medical community, and SDG 5: Gender Equality.
