FK-KMK Welcomes Parents of New FK-KMK Students

FK-KMK UGM. The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held an introduction and welcoming event for parents of new students accepted at FK-KMK. This event was held on Monday (29/07) at the FK-KMK UGM Auditorium.

With great pleasure, FK-KMK greeted the parents of new students. Prof. Dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, M.Sc., Ph.D., FRSPH, Dean of FK-KMK, expressed his gratitude to the parents who were important in helping their children get accepted into FK-KMK UGM. “This is the result of hard work, commitment and dedication from your sons and daughters as well as support from all of you,” said Professor Yodi.

A talk show session also took place as part of this event to introduce FK-KMK. Dr. Ahmad Hamim Sadewa, Ph.D., the vice dean for academic and student affairs, gave this introduction. According to Dr. Hamim, FK-KMK bases its academic programs on community service by upholding the UGM-owned “Mengakar Kuat Menjulang Tinggi” concept in the educational process. Furthermore, FK-KMK offers the Academic Health System, which combines FK-KMK’s academic function with on-site implementation at network hospitals.

The second session was delivered by dr. Irfan Rahmatullah, Sp.OG as the head of the FK-KMK Student Parents Association (POTMA). dr. Irfan conveyed the importance of the role of parents in the learning process and the achievement of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in FK-KMK. POTMA is also expected to be able to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between parents in FK-KMK.

The last topic presented was related to the importance of mental health for FK-KMK students. The session was delivered by Prof. Dra. Yayi Suryo Prabandari, M.Sc., Ph.D explained FK-KMK’s support in terms of mental health for its students. With adequate facilities such as Teman Baik, psychologists, psychiatrists, and an integrated referral system with network hospitals, it is a form of FK-KMK’s concern for the mental health issues of its students.

The welcoming activities for parents of the new students and the introduction of FK-KMK are part of FK-KMK’s efforts in forming quality education through partnerships and cooperation with parents. This is in accordance with SDG number 4 on Quality Education and SDG number 17 on Partnerships to Achieve Goals (Fauziah)
