FK-KMK UGM. The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received an academic visit from Umea Universitet, Sweden. The meeting took place at the Tahir Foundation Postgraduate Building, FK-KMK UGM, Tuesday (07/31) and was attended by delegates from Umea Universitet, namely Julia Schröders, M.A., M.Med.Sc., Ph.D. (Postdoctoral Researcher in Sociology with a background in Medical Anthropology, Epidemiology, and Global Health) and Masoud Vaezghasemi, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. (researcher in Global Health, Food Science & Industry, Food & Nutrition, and Epidemiology).
The main topics discussed during this meeting included potential collaborations in education and research, scholarship opportunities and student exchanges, as well as advanced research collaboration in nutrition, food, epidemiology, and public health. One of the primary focuses was the emerging global health challenges, particularly related to nutrition and health conceptually.
The Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FK-KMK UGM, Dr. Ahmad Hamim Sadewa, Ph.D., stated, “This visit is very important for us to open up broader cooperation opportunities with Umea Universitet. We hope this collaboration can support the achievement of capacity building and education standards.” The collaboration between FK-KMK UGM and Umea Universitet is expected to make significant contributions in addressing global health challenges through a multidisciplinary approach. By focusing on in-depth and evidence-based research, both institutions hope to provide innovative solutions to pressing health issues, particularly in the fields of nutrition and epidemiology.
The cooperation established through this activity aligns with the points of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), which focuses on improving nutrition and sustainable agriculture, and Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages. This visit and discussion are expected to strengthen the efforts of both universities in supporting the achievement of these goals.
Bythis visit, students and researchers from both universities have the opportunity to learn from and share knowledge with each other, which in turn will enhance the quality of education and research in global health.
