FK-KMK UGM Partners with University of Melbourne for Sustainable Collaboration

FK-KMK UGM. In an effort to foster academic and research collaboration, the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FK-KMK UGM) hosted a courtesy visit and discussion with a delegation from the University of Melbourne on Wednesday (September 11) at the Tahir Foundation Building, FK-KMK UGM.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmad Hamim Sadewa, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, along with other faculty leaders and representatives from the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM), the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Population Health (BEPH), and the Department of Health Behavior, Environment, and Social Medicine (HBES).

The delegation from the University of Melbourne included A/Prof Helen Jordan, Program Coordinator for the Master of Public Health at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health (MSPGH), Dr. Nathan Stam, Director of MSPGH, among others.

“I hope that we can collaborate in the future through various research and academic partnerships,” said dr. Hamim on behalf of the Dean of FK-KMK UGM.

dr. Hamim also emphasized that FK-KMK UGM is eager to pursue a double degree program as a priority offer to the University of Melbourne.

“The double degree program is a target for collaboration within our master’s and doctoral programs, and we would be delighted to work together on this,” added dr. Hamim.

Nathan agreed with the proposal, expressing the University of Melbourne’s keen interest in collaborating, particularly in the Master of Health Policy and Management program.

Furthermore, representatives from each department presented their respective program offerings. For instance, Dr. Lutfan Lazuardi, M.Kes., Ph.D., from the HPM Department, highlighted their readiness to collaborate, mentioning their existing partnerships with other faculties at UGM, such as the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

“Considering the vast potential, we can begin this collaboration as early as next year,” concluded dr. Hamim.

This meeting represents a commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). (Isroq Adi Subakti/Reporter).
