FK-KMK UGM. The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a manuscript writing workshop titled “Strategies for Writing Reviews in Reputable International Journals”. The event took place at the 8th-floor Auditorium of the Tahir Foundation Building as part of the Pekan Raya Medika (Medical Fair) series.
The workshop was officially opened on Sunday (October 27) by dr. Yoyo Suhoyo, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., Assistant Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FK-KMK UGM. In his remarks, dr. Yoyo emphasized the significance of the workshop, stating that mastering review writing for international journals can greatly benefit students in their academic pursuits and future careers.
The workshop, moderated by dr. Nur Imma Fatimah Harahap, Ph.D., Sp.PK, featured two sessions led by expert speakers. The first session, delivered by dr. Ricvan Dana Nindrea, S.K.M., M.Kes., M.Sc (Epid)., FRSPH—a lecturer at Universitas Negeri Padang and an alumnus of FK-KMK UGM—focused on tips and tricks for crafting compelling review articles.
dr. Ricvan highlighted the importance of identifying research gaps, explaining that starting from small-scale observations can lead to significant insights. He also introduced the PICO framework (People, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) as a tool to help researchers formulate strong research questions.
The second session, led by dr. Dian Kesumapramudya Nurputra, M.Sc, Ph.D, Sp.A, explored the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in manuscript writing. “AI tools can enhance time efficiency, creativity, productivity, and assist with grammar correction,” dr. Dian explained.
The manuscript writing workshop was part of the Pekan Raya Medika 2024, held from Sunday to Monday, October 27-28, 2024. The annual event includes a series of activities such as public lectures, talk shows, a research pitch contest, research poster presentations, manuscript writing workshops, an innovation expo, and a health innovation competition. The event serves as a platform to bridge inventors, educational institutions, and the healthcare industry, fostering idea-sharing to address various health challenges.
These activities, including the manuscript writing workshop, reflect FK-KMK UGM’s commitment to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
