The Bio-Paleoanthropology Museum of the Faculty of Medicine at Gadjah Mada University received a visit from a delegation of students and deans of medical faculties from throughout ASEAN on Tuesday (27/05). This visit was part of the closing of the 15th ASEAN Medical Deans’ Summit (AMDS) 2025 series, which took place in Yogyakarta.
The delegation was divided into two groups: students from the ASEAN Medical Schools Network (AMSN) Student Chapter who arrived in the morning, and the deans and heads of medical schools who visited in the afternoon. The participants seemed enthusiastic about listening to the explanations about the history of human evolution, prehistoric times, and the development of human anatomy from time to time.
Many of them expressed their appreciation for the interactive and visual approach offered by the museum, which is able to provide a contextual and in-depth learning experience. The visit to the museum not only enriched the participants’ insights into the development of medical science and anthropology, but also reflected the commitment of FK-KMK UGM in supporting the achievement of the Partnership of The Goals, especially point 4: Quality Education, point 11: Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements, and point 17: Partnerships for Achieving the Goals.
The visit was part of the 15th ASEAN Medical Deans’ Summit (AMDS) 2025, an annual forum that brings together deans and students from leading medical faculties in the ASEAN region. This year, the Faculty of Medicine Gadjah Mada University hosted the forum, which took place on 25–27 May 2025 at the Alana Hotel & Convention Center, Yogyakarta, with the theme “Building Impactful Collaborations: Transforming Needs Into Actions.”
Through a visit to this museum, the values of collaboration and strengthening cross-cultural education are further strengthened, affirming the role of Faculty of Medicine Gadjah Mada University as a pioneer in integrating educational innovation, historical preservation, and academic diplomacy at the regional level.
