FK-KMK UGM. Dean of FK-KMK UGM, Prof. dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, M.Sc., Ph.D., FRSPH attended the agenda of the High-level Meeting held by the United Nations on 20-22 September 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA.
On the first day, Prof. Yodi attended a meeting that focused on pandemic prevention with the theme Creating and Maintaining Political Momentum and Solidarity for Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response.
According to Prof. Yodi, decolonizing capacity building in pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response is crucial to building a more equitable and resilient global health system. There is a need for collective efforts and decolonization to build a stronger and more inclusive global health capacity.
Furthermore, on the third day (September 22, 2023), Prof. Yodi attended a meeting that discussed Tuberculosis with the theme Fight Against Tuberculosis with the theme Advancing Science, Finance and Innovation, and Their Benefits, to Urgently End the Global Tuberculosis Epidemic in Particular by Ensuring Equitable Access to Prevention, Testing, Treatment, and Care.
“The most important thing is to unite in the commitment to fund TB research and development and fight for a future where no one is left behind in the fight against TB,” said Prof. Yodi.
On the sidelines of the activity, the second day, Prof. Yodi also visited Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University, New York on 21 September 2023 in order to discuss and evaluate the collaboration program that has been going on between FK-KMK UGM and Weill Cornell Medicine. (Nirwana/Reporter)
