Students From FK-KMK UGM Win Prestigious International Award at WONCA APR 2025 South Korea

Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM delegates students from the Doctor of Medicine Education Program and SpKKLP Residency Program to participate in the Wonca Asia Pacific Regional Conference (WONCA APR) 2025, on April 24-27, 2025.

Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM delegates students from the Doctor of Medicine Education Program and SpKKLP Residency Program to participate in the Wonca Asia Pacific Regional Conference (WONCA APR) 2025, on April 24-27, 2025. The Conference is organized by the Korean Academy of Family Medicine and will be held at the Busan Exhibition Convention Center in South Korea.

The Wonca Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2025 is an international forum for discussing the latest development in primary health care. The conference promotes innovation, knowledge exchange, and international collaboration in the context of family care. Delegations from the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, University of Gadjah Mada (FK-KMK UGM) include Riyal Syauqi Muhammad, who participates in the poster presentation session, and Alyssalma Callistas Widiaputri, who participates in the oral presentation session. They are under the guidance of dr. Fitriana Murriya Ekawati, MPHC., SPKKLP., Ph.D.

At the Wonca Asia Pacific Regional Conference, the topics discussed by the delegations focused on reproductive health and the important role of primary health care. In his poster presentation, Riyal presented a paper titled “Males’ Perception and involvement in Preconception Care in Indonesian Primary Care in the Bantul Region, Yogyakarta.” Meanwhile, in her oral presentation, Alyssalma presented a talk titled “Extended Family Involvement in Preconception Care in Bantul District”. Both presentations highlighted the urgency of preconception care as a crucial early intervention in improving maternal and child health. Additionally, both presentations emphasize the importance of cross-role involvement in society, including men and families, in preparing for a healthy pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Mirfa also presented another study titled “The Correlation Between Adolescents’ Understanding of Contraception and Safe Sexual Practice: A Cross-Sectional Study in Bantul, Yogyakarta”. This study highlights the importance of contraceptive education among adolescents as a preventive measure against unintended pregnancies and risky sexual practices. Additionally, at this conference, Mirfa Arifni A’la successfully won the Travel Award: Promising Research Award. This Award is highly prestigious as it is given to young researchers who have made significant contributions to family medicine research.

The involvement of the FK-KMK UGM delegations in the Wonca Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2025 is in line with the Partnership of The Goals point 3: Good Health and Well-being, as is their participation in the exchange of knowledge and innovation in the field of family health. Additionally, the achievements attained by Mirfa reflect a commitment to sustainable scientific contributions in family health research, which aligns with point 4: Quality Education.
