FK-KMK UGM Joins World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine in Tokyo

The 23rd World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine was organized by the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) in Tokyo, Japan on May 2-6, 2025. This International scientific forum brings together professionals from various countries to share best practices, innovations, and the latest research results in medical management in emergency and disaster situations.

WADEM, founded in 1976, has been a pioneer in the development of global pre-hospital care and emergency response systems. Since 1979, the congress has been held biennially with locations moving across continents. At the time, hundreds of participants from various disciplines, including medicine, public health, disaster management, and veterinary medicine, attended to discuss various important issues related to emergency response and the capacity of health systems to face crises.

Topics covered include the latest research on disaster resuscitation and triage, logistics management, and cross-sector collaboration in humanitarian crisis scenarios. WADEM consistently promotes a scientific approach to emergency health system capacity strengthening, in line with the partnership of the goals (SDGs) targets, particularly goals 3: Healthy and Prosperous Lives), goals11: Sustainable Cities and Settlements, and goals 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
