FK-KMK UGM. The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Andalas (Unand), conducted a benchmarking visit to the Nursing Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FK-KMK UGM). The event, held at the Tahir Foundation Building, focused on sharing experiences and insights on learning systems and quality assurance in education.
The visit was attended by representatives from Unand’s Faculty of Nursing and facilitated by Dr. Wenny Artanty Nisman, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., from the Department of Pediatric and Maternity Nursing (AMAT Department) at FK-KMK UGM.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Wenny emphasized the importance of standardized evaluations in educational systems. Among the methods applied at FK-KMK UGM is block evaluation, including the wrap-up of the *self-care regular* block, designed to ensure optimal performance from both lecturers and students.
“We ensure that the instruments used for evaluations have undergone validity and reliability testing. The results confirm their validity and reliability, thus supporting the effectiveness of our learning systems,” said Dr. Wenny.
Dr. Wenny also highlighted the significance of audit management in processing educational data. According to her, data interpretation and formulas should originate internally to maintain relevance and consistency.
“In audit management, data must be processed internally to ensure its interpretation aligns with institutional needs,” she added.
The visit also provided an opportunity for FK-KMK UGM to share its recent achievements. In October 2024, the Nursing Program at FK-KMK UGM received international accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
“This accreditation is an essential component of quality assurance. We continuously update and improve our standards to maintain educational excellence,” explained Dr. Wenny.
During the discussion, representatives from Unand’s Faculty of Nursing expressed appreciation for FK-KMK UGM’s systems. “It’s quite similar to what we do, but there are significant differences in the Integrated Nursing System (OSTK). Ours is much simpler, while here, it encompasses as many as 41 study programs,” noted one representative from Unand.
The benchmarking activity is expected to inspire Unand’s Faculty of Nursing to further develop its quality assurance standards. By exchanging best practices, both institutions are optimistic about producing competent and high-quality nursing professionals to meet the needs of the healthcare sector.
Through this event, FK-KMK UGM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing nursing education, not only internally but also by fostering collaboration with other institutions to achieve excellence in health education.
