FK-KMK UGM. Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM welcomed students from Vanderbilt University Medical Center who joined the Global Health Indonesia program on Monday (30/10) at Tahir Graduate Building on the 7th floor of the Faculty. As many as 22 students participated in this program consisting of 20 women and 2 men.
Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, dr. Ahmad Hamim Sadewa, Ph.D., welcomed the 22 students. dr. Hamim explained that Indonesia is a country that has a wealth of races and ethnicities so Indonesia is suitable as a research object. “Yogyakarta is one of the small cities with a refined and polite culture, I hope all students from Vanderbilt University can enjoy their time here and all the cultural richness that Yogyakarta has,” he explained.
Global Health Indonesia is one of the programs included in the Incoming Elective Program of the Faculty. The Incoming Elective Program is a flagship program at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM that organizes the placement of students from overseas universities who are interested in increasing knowledge about certain diseases that are prevalent in Indonesia, gaining new experiences in observing clinical and/or community environments in Indonesia and getting the best practices of the Indonesian health system, including Indonesian culture and its social aspects.
Through this program, students who are members of it will carry out research in groups. Research will be carried out by going directly to the field and living with their research objects. FK-KMK UGM is committed to collaborating with many domestic and foreign institutions, one of which is the Incoming Elective Program. This is a form of contribution to realizing the 17th SDG point, namely partnership for the goal. (Nirwana/Reporter)
