JCU 2023: Update for Technology in Cardiovascular Disease Treatment

FK-KMK UGM. Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine FK-KMK UGM together with the Jogja International Cardiovascular Topic Series (Jincartos) are organizing the Jogja Cardiology Update (JCU) from Friday (1/9) to Sunday (3/9) at Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta. There are several agendas in JCU, such as workshops, symposiums, and plenary sessions.

JCU 2023 Chairman, Dr. dr. Anggoro Budi Hartopo.,Ph.D., Sp.PD., Sp.JP said that this collaboration with Jincartos carries a topic that is currently being discussed, which is Integrating Technology in Cardiovascular Disease Management: Towards a Harmonic Fusion. “Hopefully, the materials presented by the speakers can improve participants’ knowledge regarding the topic,” he added.

Head of the Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine FK-KMK UGM, Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Yuli Setiato, Sp.PD.KKV., Sp.JP(K) gave a speech as the opening remarks. According to him, it is time for medicine in Indonesia to reflect on the use of technology in cardiovascular disease treatment. “However, technology and science cannot stand alone. Both need harmonious collaboration to solve cardiovascular disease problems,” he explained.

In the first plenary session, Prof. Salvatore Di Somma, MD., Ph.D presents the latest technological developments in cardiovascular medicine. Examples of the latest technology are POCT New Biomarkers, Interventional Cardiology, and Telemedicine.

“Although in the future technology will make it easier to treat cardiovascular disease, the role of doctors will not be replaced,” Prof. Salvatore said.
