“Respons  to all events in life, we must be able to decide. If we assume that it is a failure, we can’t get anything. The experience can be used as a lesson.”

These words were expressed by dr. Aji Darundriyo, a graduate of the School of Medicine International Class 2008 Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada. Now dr. Aji Darundriyo work as Deputy Director of Medical Services at the General Hospital Wiradadi Husada Banyumas. During looking career up to this point, he admitted have a lot of experience.Aji Darundriyo never considered the worst things that ever happened was a failure. But it is an experience of the life process. He told that a lot of fresh graduates are trapped in illusions a dream job or we can call it, “dream job”. Many fresh graduates think that life after campus like getting an ideal place to work and good environment and ideal atmosphere. But the fact reality is not like that.

“However, only ourselves able to change the work of a nightmare become a dream job. It isn’t easy to change and only requires a short time.”, said dr. Aji.

dr. Aji admitted that he used to feel that. He already has tried all careers to search which is the most appropriate for him. He tried to be a doctor at puskesmas, being a doctor at the clinic, being a general practitioner at the hospital, being a freelance daily employee of government, and become an employee of emergency unit 119 Yogyakarta. He said, wherever we work, everyone will have nightmares in the world of work. Only we can change it as dreamed of.

One thing the most important thing you must always remember is don’t forget the main goal as a doctor, which is treated patient. Always remember that the value of based medicine is above evidence based medicine. Many challenges are waiting for us as health workers. So we must be prepared to understand the financial systems, health insurance, ICD 10, and INA-CBG. Then increase soft skills, especially the ability to lead and communicate.

From that experience, he concluded that the work environment at the hospital is the most appropriate for him. Dr. Aji has worked in the private hospital for 1 year. Career in the hospital started as a doctor on duty for 2 months, then become the Head of the Inpatient Installation for 4 months, and finally for the last 4 months work as Deputy Director Medical Services.

Proud to be part of Faculty of Medicine UGM Alumni

Aji felt grateful for being part of the alumni, Faculty of Medicine UGM. Become an alumni of the Faculty of Medicine UGM have its own strengths and challenges. The advantage is an honoured carry name Faculty of Medicine UGM in the curriculum vitae. But he also said that when we work far from Jogja, we will meet many Faculty of Medicine alumni from other universities, than alumni of UGM. When us making a few mistakes it feels like it will carry name Faculty of Medicine UGM. Now that burden being a challenge.

Hopefully we become a health worker that can be able to take a lesson and learn from each incident and experience.
