Master of Midwifery

This program is expected to meet both the quantitative and qualitative needs for equitable and just maternal and child health services.

The development of Master of Midwifery education is prioritized to address the shortage of Master of Midwifery (M.Keb) graduates in Indonesia. This program is expected to meet both the quantitative and qualitative needs for equitable and just maternal and child health services. The establishment of the Master of Midwifery Study Program is one of the efforts to prepare high-quality educators in order to improve Maternal and Child Health (MCH).

The graduates are expected to serve as Midwifery Researchers, Midwifery Knowledge Developers, and Midwifery Education Managers.

Project Strengths

The Master of Midwifery Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) Universitas Gadjah Mada, offers distinctive strengths by focusing on education, applied biomedical and social science research, and community engagement. To support its unique characteristics, the curriculum is reinforced with courses such as Molecular Biology, Reproductive Physiology, Embryology, Community Midwifery Care Management, Midwifery Professionalism, Reproductive Health Promotion, and Family Planning Service Management.

Admission to the Master of Midwifery program is open to graduates of both the Diploma IV (D4) and Bachelor of Midwifery (S1) programs.

Curriculum

The student learning load refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Permendikbud) No. 53 of 2023 on Quality Assurance in Higher Education. It is designed with a total of 54 credits (SKS), consisting of General Basic Courses (MKDU) and Core Professional Courses (MKDK), with a minimum study period of three semesters.

The Basic General Courses (MKDU) include the following courses:

  3. Reproductive Physiology
  4. Embryology
  5. Clinical Epidemiology
  6. Midwifery Education Management
  7. Current Issues in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  8. Midwifery Professionalism
  9. Clinical Nutrition in Midwifery

The Basic Expertise Courses (MKDK) include the following courses:

  1. Management of Antenatal, Intrapartum, Postpartum, and Breastfeeding Care
  2. Management of Newborn, Neonate, Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Child Care
  3. Management of Maternal and Neonatal Emergency Care
  4. Community Midwifery Care Management
  5. Research Methodology
  6. Evidence-Based Midwifery
  7. Educational Technology
  8. Reproductive Health Promotion
  9. Family Planning Service Management
  10. Elective Courses:
  • Midwifery Pharmacology

Each elective course consists of 2 credits. Students can choose or take 2 elective courses (4 credits) from a total of 5 elective courses (10 credits).

Single Tuition Fee (UKT) IDR 15,000,000 /semester.
