FK-KMK UGM. The Metabolic Endocrinology Working Group (POKJA) of the Translational Research Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FK-KMK UGM) will hold a workshop and genomic research discussion to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration in genomic research, particularly related to endocrine diseases in adults and children. This workshop will focus on the opportunities for genomic research collaboration from adult and pediatric endocrine patients, with a particular focus on thyroid disease. Additionally, the workshop will discuss other aspects of endocrine diseases that are potential subjects for genomic research.
Through this workshop, the Metabolic Endocrinology Working Group is committed to providing a platform for discussion and collaboration in genomic research, enhancing understanding and genomic analysis skills using Next Generation Sequencing technology, and exploring the potential for cross-faculty, departmental, and divisional collaboration in endocrinology and metabolic research. Furthermore, this event aims to develop data management for complementary genomic analysis metadata with an endocrine disease registry. Three discussion sessions will be held. The first session will be led by Dr. Suryono Yudha Patria, SpA (K), on the clinical aspects of thyroid disease in children. This will be followed by a session on NGS bioinformatics analysis by a Bioinformatics Expert from the Faculty of Biology. The final session will cover aspects of clinical research data management with genomic data by Prof. Dr. Jarir At Thobari, Dpharm, PhD.
The workshop will feature various sessions designed to enrich participants’ knowledge and encourage collaboration among researchers. These sessions include presentations from experts, panel discussions, and hands-on sessions using Next Generation Sequencing technology. Participants will also have the opportunity to present their research findings and receive feedback from genomics experts and other researchers. By providing this platform for discussion and collaboration, the workshop aims to create a strong synergy between various disciplines to address the challenges of endocrine diseases with a more holistic approach. This workshop represents an important step in advancing genomic research in Indonesia, particularly in the field of endocrinology and metabolism, by strengthening research collaboration networks and enhancing genomic analysis capabilities among Indonesian researchers.
The genomic research workshop organized by the Metabolic Endocrinology Working Group of the Translational Research Unit FK-KMK UGM aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. This activity contributes to improving understanding and management of endocrine diseases through innovative scientific research approaches, ultimately improving patients’ quality of life. Thus, this workshop not only plays a role in the development of science and technology but also in achieving broader sustainable development goals. (Assyifa/Reporter).
