Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Gadjah Mada University (FK-KMK UGM) welcomed a delegation from Utrecht University during a Courtesy Visit held in the Dean’s Meeting Room, FK-KMK UGM Central Building on Wednesday (19/02). This visit was related to exploring cooperation in the field of climate change mitigation.
The delegation from Utrecht University that visited FK-KMK UGM was led by Dr. Femke van Noorloos. In her speech, Dr. Noorloos expressed her desire to collaborate with UGM. She explained about the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning, Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University.
“Our desire for collaboration is not only with FK-KMK UGM, but we also want to collaborate with the Faculty of Geography UGM. Because this research collaboration can be done together,” Dr. Noorloos said.
Vice Dean for Research and Development at FK-KMK UGM, Prof. Dr. dr. Lina Choridah, Sp.Rad(K), welcomed the potential for collaboration. She said that FK-KMK UGM has good relationships with several universities and other institutions in the Netherlands in terms of cooperation.
“A few days ago, we also received a visit from Princess Maxima Hospital because we are collaborating in the field of pediatric oncology. Of course, this meeting can discuss potential collaborations,” Prof. Lina explained.
Prof. Fatwa Sari Tetra Dewi, MPH., Ph.D., Secretary of the Master of Public Health Study Program, added that this collaboration involves FK-KMK UGM, the Faculty of Geography, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and Utrecht University. “In the future, FK-KMK UGM can involve the Master of Health Sciences, as it is related to climate change. It could also involve the One Health and Environmental Health specializations. We could also invite HDSS Sleman.”
The meetings between these two institutions are in line with the SDGs, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. (Public Relations/Sitam)
