FM-UGM. A scientific approach could increase the athlete achievement, such as genetic, training program, technical skill, social, infrastructure, weather, climate, psychological condition, confidence, motivation, appreciation, nutritional functions, basic of potency and ability. Nutrition is one of an element which has affected the performance but ignored by athletes, trainers, and stakeholders in Indonesia.
Various nutritional problems affect the athlete performance did not optimal. it caused by anthropometry, biochemistry, clinical and feeding intake. So it needs an enhancement continues improvement. Because of that Dr. Mirza Hapsari Sakti Titis Penggalih, S.Gz., RD., MPH made a dissertation which entitled “Effectiveness of Nutrition Management at Athletes to Improving Nutrition Status as Performance Support”. This dissertation is delivered in open examination of Doctoral Program of Faculty of Medicine UGM (23/5) in Auditorium of Faculty of Medicine.
Her dissertation said that effective nutrition program improves all aspects of anthropometry, somatotype, hydration status, feed intake and fluid intake. Nutrition program has a significant influence on the performance of athletes, amounting to 69.8%. Unfortunately, it has not been seen to be effective in improving biochemistry. Biochemistry is glucose and cholesterol. Feeding intake is energy, carbohydrate, protein, dietary fiber, while fluid intake of athletes after nutrition intervention program (p <0.05). Moreover, the key to nutrition management is monitoring and evaluation.those things will keep up the performance of the athlete.
Anthropometric nutritional status is defined as body weight, body height, percent fat, percent muscle mass, endomorph, ectomorph, IMT / U, and TB / U. Furthermore, feeding intake is energy, carbohydrate, protein, dietary fiber, while fluid intake of athletes after nutrition intervention program (p <0.05).
Mirza hopes this study which involved 126 people in Ragunan Youth Athlete Dorms, Ministry of Youth and Sports of The Republic of Indonesia Jakarta and SSB ASIFA (Aji Santoso International Football Academy) Malang can be used as a formulation of policy to apply nutrition science in a sports field in Indonesia.
Mirza is the 289th Doctorate in the Faculty of Medicine level and the 3,592 at the level of UGM, who got a very satisfying predicate. In addition, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Juffrie, Ph.D., Sp.A (K) Faculty of Medicine UGM became the main promoter, while the co-promoter was Dr. Toto Sudargo, SKM., M.Kes. And Dr. Zaenal Muttaqien Sofro, AIFM, both from Faculty of Medicine UGM. (Dian / IRO); (Megawangi/Translator)
