some of certain infectious diseases, the reappearance of some old infectious diseases (reemerging diseases) such as Tuberculosis, Malaria and Leptospirosis, and the emergence of new infectious diseases (new-emerging diseases) such as Avian Influenza, Swine Flu, Zika virus. On the other hand, non-communicable diseases indicate a trend that is increasing from time to time.
Lifting this background, the Committee Inauguration 2011 Physician Faculty held a symposium and workshops nationwide with the title of Clinical Updates 2017: Updates on High-Burden Diseases. Clinical Updates is an annual event organized by the students of medical education profession as a series the final level of the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM). In this year’s inauguration Physicians Committee for Faculty of 2011 has successfully held a symposium and workshop from 18-19 March 2017 held at the Imperial Ballroom, Hotel Sahid Rich.
As a representative of the Medical Education Faculty Alumni Force in 1991, dr. Adnan Ibrahim, Sp.PD expressed his gratitude for the successful collaboration between these forces in conducting Clinical Updates 2017.
Clinical Updates 2017 was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed, Sp.OG (K) Ph.D. What is special about this year’s inauguration committee of the Faculty Physicians, 2011 in collaboration with the Faculty Alumni Medical Education Collaborative, 1991. This is certainly a good example for the academic community of the Faculty. In his opening address, Prof. Ova stressed the importance of the concept of doctor as lifelong learners (lifelong learner).
Triple Burden Diseases di Era Universal Coverage
One of the key subjects in Clinical Updates in 2017, is a lecture given by Prof. dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M.Sc, Ph.D as Director General of Resources, Science and Technology, and Higher Education Kemenristek Higher Education. “At the end of 2016 of approximately 16.9 trillion has been spent to finance non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, kidney, thalassemia.” Prof. Ghufron.
“Nominal which constitute approximately 30% of all expenses incurred by BPJS Health,” as presented by Prof. Ghufron. It appears that the health burden of Indonesia is starting to shift from being initially associated with infectious diseases such as in the 1980s, turned into non-communicable diseases (Communicable Diseases / NCD). The load according to Prof. Ghufron can be reduced if there is collaboration and optimal work of doctors in primary care or facility is first rate in terms of prevention. In addition, there should be an improvement in the health insurance system is planned to be achieved include the entire people of Indonesia in 2019.
Lecture followed by several sessions such as the assessment and management of pain, updates in cardiovascular medicine, cerebrovascular disease, hypertension and chronic kidney disease, endocrinology, until the disease is in Respirology.
